Springfield-Branson National Airport

The first week in the new terminal went smoothly, mostly....There were the usual new building clitches: telephone system hick-ups, computer network gremlins, power outages, and, oh yes, tornadic thunderstorms. Actually, the storm was a derecho (a wide-spread, long-lived thunderstorm induced wind storm). It pounded the terminal for nearly an hour. The building did fine; the rotunda of a new jet bridge ended-up with several thousand dollars worth of wind damage. No one was hurt. Meanwhile, most customers found the new terminal without a problem, though a steady trickle of stray customers showed up at the old terminal for several days. Most seemed to live outside the area, which explains how they missed the media blitz about the move. The Airport thanks local media outlets that helped get the word out.
